Biography
Peter Taylor was an English film editor. Born in Portsmouth in 1922, he began working in the industry in the 1940s and accumulated more than 30 editing credits over five decades.
He is best known for editing David Lean's The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957), for which he received the Academy Award for Best Film Editing. His other notable credits include Hobson's Choice (1954), Summertime (1955), This Sporting Life (1963) and The Taming of the Shrew (1967). He also worked as assistant editor on The Third Man (1949).
Taylor moved to Rome around 1966 and later collaborated with Franco Zeffirelli on La Traviata (1983) and Otello (1986). He died in Rome in 1997.
