Biography
Phillip Noyce is an Australian film and television director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Griffith, New South Wales, he attended the University of Sydney and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. He began making short films in the late 1960s and directed his first feature, Backroads, in 1977.
Noyce is known for directing Newsfront (1978), Dead Calm (1989), Patriot Games (1992), Clear and Present Danger (1994), Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002, which he also produced), The Quiet American (2002), Salt (2010) and The Giver (2014). His work has received AACTA Awards for best film and best director, as well as a Longford Lyell lifetime achievement award.
