Biography

Phoebe de Gaye is a British costume designer for film and television. She trained at the Wimbledon School of Art and the Motley Theatre Design Course, graduating in 1973. She began working in the late 1970s on Arts Council and British Film Institute productions, later establishing herself at the BBC with early credits including the first series of Only Fools and Horses.

De Gaye has designed costumes for numerous television series and films. Her credits include Killing Eve (2018), The Musketeers (2014–2015), The White Princess (2017), The Spanish Princess (2019), Treadstone (2019), The English (2022) and Belgravia: The Next Chapter (2024). Film work includes Creep (2004), Birthday Girl (2001) and Killing Me Softly (2002).

She won a BAFTA Television Craft Award for Best Costume Design in 2015 for The Musketeers and received a Royal Television Society Craft & Design Award in 2023.
