Biography
Piero Piccioni, also credited as Piero Morgan, was an Italian composer, pianist, conductor and organist. Born in Turin on 6 December 1921, he died in Rome on 23 July 2004. He began working in film music in the 1950s after practising as a lawyer securing rights for producers including Titanus and De Laurentiis.
Piccioni composed scores for more than 300 films. He collaborated frequently with Francesco Rosi on twelve features, including Christ Stopped at Eboli (1979) and Three Brothers (1981), and with Alberto Sordi. Other notable scores include The Demon (1964), The 10th Victim (1965), I Knew Her Well (1965), Hands Over the City (1963), Many Wars Ago (1970) and Swept Away (1974). He also wrote music for television, radio, ballet and orchestral works.
