Biography
Pierre Curzi is a Canadian actor, screenwriter and former politician. Born in Montréal, he graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada in 1969 and began a career in theatre, film and television.
He is known for his roles in Denys Arcand films, including Pierre in The Decline of the American Empire (1986) and Pierre Citrouillard in The Barbarian Invasions (2003). He has appeared in dozens of other productions and received Genie Award nominations for acting and screenwriting. Curzi served as president of the Union des artistes from 1996 to 2006.
In 2007 he was elected as a Parti Québécois Member of the National Assembly for the riding of Borduas and was re-elected in 2008; he sat as an independent from 2011 until leaving politics in 2012.
