Biography
Piotr Dzięcioł is a Polish film producer. He graduated in law from the University of Wrocław in 1973 and completed studies in film and television production organisation at the National Film School in Łódź. In 1991 he founded Opus Film, a production company based in Łódź that has worked on feature films, documentaries, television and commercials.
He produced Ida (2013), which won the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for best film not in the English language. Other credits include Edi (2002), The Congress (2013), Cold War (2018) and Sweat (2020). He is a member of the Polish Film Academy and the European Film Academy, and has served on the board of the Polish Film Institute.
Dzięcioł is the father of producer Łukasz Dzięcioł. He has received Polish honours including the title of Honorary Citizen of Łódź.
