Biography
Quinn Redeker (2 May 1936 – 20 December 2022) was an American actor and screenwriter. He appeared in numerous television series and films, and is best known for his long-running roles in daytime soap operas, including Alex Marshall on Days of Our Lives (1979–1987) and Rex Sterling on The Young and the Restless (1987–2004).
As a screenwriter, Redeker co-authored the story for the 1978 film The Deer Hunter with Lou Garfinkle, for which he received a shared Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. He also appeared in three films directed by Robert Redford: The Candidate (1972), The Electric Horseman (1979) and Ordinary People (1980), in which he played the brother of Mary Tyler Moore’s character. Redeker began his career with stand-up comedy in Las Vegas and guest roles on prime-time series before focusing on daytime television.
