Biography
R. Eric Thomas is an American television writer, playwright and author. He has written episodes of the series Better Things (2016) and Dickinson (2019).
Thomas grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and studied playwriting at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County after attending Columbia University. His stage work includes the plays Mrs. Harrison and Safe Space; he has received the Barrymore Award for Best New Play, the Dramatists Guild Lanford Wilson Award and a Lambda Literary Award.
He is the author of the essay collections Here For It: Or, How to Save Your Soul in America (2020) and Congratulations, the Best Is Over! (2023), the young adult novel Kings of B'more (2022) and, with Helena Andrews-Dyer, the biography Reclaiming Her Time: The Power of Maxine Waters.
