Biography
Ranald MacDougall (10 March 1915 – 12 December 1973) was an American screenwriter. He wrote the screenplay for Mildred Pierce (1945) and shared screenwriting credit on Cleopatra (1963). Other screenplays include Objective, Burma! (1945), The Naked Jungle (1954) and The World, the Flesh and the Devil (1959).
MacDougall also directed several films, among them Man on Fire (1957) and The World, the Flesh and the Devil (1959). He served as president of the Writers Guild of America West from 1971 until 1973. He began his career in radio before moving to film in the mid-1940s.
