Biography
Raynold Gideon is a screenwriter, producer and occasional actor. He began appearing in television and film roles in the late 1960s. With writing partner Bruce A. Evans he received an Academy Award nomination for the 1972 short Frog Story.
Gideon and Evans wrote the screenplay for Stand by Me (1986), adapted from Stephen King's novella The Body, and served as producers on the film; it earned them a further Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. Their other screenwriting credits include Starman (1984), Made in Heaven (1987), Kuffs (1992), Cutthroat Island (1995) and Mr. Brooks (2007).
