Biography
Razaaq Adoti (also credited as Raz Adoti) is a British actor, producer and screenwriter. Born on 27 June 1973 in Forest Gate, London, to Nigerian parents, he began acting on stage at the age of 17. He performed with the National Youth Music Theatre, including the lead role of Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, before training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, from which he graduated with a degree in acting.
Adoti's screen career includes early television roles such as in Press Gang (1991) and a breakthrough film part as Yamba in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). He played the antagonist Yousuf Dahir Mo'alim in Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down (2001) and Sgt. Peyton Wells in Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004). Other notable film roles include Duke in Doom (2005) and appearances in The Hard Corps (2006).
Through his production company Area Boyz, Adoti has written and produced projects including the screenplay Sons of the Soil, filmed in England and Nigeria. He has also worked in television, with appearances in series such as NCIS (2011) and American Crime Story (2018).
