Biography
Reggie Nalder (born Alfred Reginald Natzler) was an Austrian character actor. He was born in Vienna on 4 September 1907 and died in Santa Monica, California, on 19 November 1991.
From a theatrical family, he performed in Vienna theatres and Paris cabarets before the Second World War. After the war he worked for the German-language service of the BBC and began appearing in films in the late 1940s. His distinctive scarred appearance led to frequent casting in villainous or unsettling roles.
He is best known for playing the assassin Rien in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956). Other notable appearances include the vampire Kurt Barlow in the television adaptation of Salem's Lot (1979), Shras in the Star Trek episode "Journey to Babel" (1967), and uncredited roles in The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (1970).
