Biography
Renn Woods, also credited as Ren Woods, is an American actress, vocalist and songwriter. Born in Chicago on 1 January 1958 and raised in Portland, Oregon, she began performing as a child in the vocal trio Sunday's Child and later toured with Bob Hope.
She is known for her role as Fanta in the 1977 miniseries Roots, for which she received a People's Choice Award, and as the 'Aquarius' soloist in the 1979 film Hair. Other film roles include Jo in Xanadu (1980), Elvira in The Jerk (1979) and Barbara in Nine to Five (1980). On television she played Edie in Beauty and the Beast (1987–1989).
Woods has also worked in theatre, appearing as Dorothy in the first national touring production of The Wiz.
