Biography
Reta Shaw was an American actress. Born Reta Marguerite Shaw in South Paris, Maine, on 13 September 1912, she died in Encino, California, on 8 January 1982.
She trained at the Leland Powers School of the Theater in Boston and began her career on the stage. Her Broadway credits included Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1949), Picnic (1953) and the original production of The Pajama Game (1954). She appeared in the 1955 film adaptation of Picnic as Irma Kronkite.
Shaw had supporting roles in films including Pollyanna (1960), Mary Poppins (1964) and Escape to Witch Mountain (1975). On television she appeared in series such as The Ghost & Mrs. Muir, The Andy Griffith Show, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie.
