Biography
Richard Garrick (born Richard Thomas O'Brien) was an Irish-born American actor and director. He made his Broadway debut in 1907 and appeared in numerous stage productions over the following decades, including the original 1947 production of A Streetcar Named Desire as the doctor (sometimes billed as the stranger).
Garrick also directed silent films in the 1910s and 1920s, working in the United States and Europe. In the 1950s he resumed a film career with small supporting roles, reprising his stage part in the 1951 film adaptation of A Streetcar Named Desire. His other screen credits include Quo Vadis (1951), Viva Zapata! (1952), East of Eden (1955), High Society (1956) and The Three Faces of Eve (1957).
