Biography

Richard Paul (6 June 1940 – 25 December 1998) was an American actor. He appeared in the 1982 film Eating Raoul as Mr. Cray.

Paul was born in Los Angeles, California. He earned a BA in public affairs from Claremont Men's College and an MA in psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. He was near completion of a PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Arizona before turning to acting full time. From 1977 to 1979 he played Mayor Teddy Burnside in the sitcom Carter Country. He later had a recurring role as Mayor Sam Booth in Murder, She Wrote and portrayed Jerry Falwell in the 1990 television film Fall from Grace and the 1996 film The People vs. Larry Flynt.

Paul died of cancer at his home in Studio City, California. He was married to Patty Oestereich from 1968 until his death.
