Biography

Richard Stahl (also credited as Dick Stahl) was an American actor. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He appeared in off-Broadway productions and was a member of the improvisational comedy group The Committee in San Francisco.

Stahl's film roles include the Recording Engineer in Five Easy Pieces (1970), Dr. Baxter in High Anxiety (1977), Meade in Nine to Five (1980), a hospital psychiatrist in Overboard (1987), and a staffer in The American President (1995). On television he had guest roles in series such as Columbo, Bonanza, Murder, She Wrote and Married... with Children, and was a regular on the sitcom It's a Living (1985–1989). He co-starred in the mini-series Turnabout (1979).

Stahl was married to actress Kathryn Ish from 1959 until his death in Woodland Hills, California, in 2006.
