Biography
Rina Yang is a British cinematographer based in London. Born in Japan in 1986, she studied at Met Film School, graduating with a BA in Practical Filmmaking. She began her career in music videos and commercials before moving into narrative work.
Yang is known for her work on the HBO series Euphoria (2019–), for which she shot an episode of the second season; the Netflix series Top Boy (2019); the film Nanny (2022); Taylor Swift's All Too Well: The Short Film (2021); and The Fire Inside (2024). She has also contributed to Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) as second unit director of photography.
She was the first Asian woman to join the British Society of Cinematographers and was selected for the BAFTA Breakthrough programme in 2020. Yang was the first woman cinematographer nominated for a BAFTA Cymru award in fiction for Through the Gates (2018) and the first female director of photography to win a cinematography award at the British Arrows.
