Biography

Robert D. Wachs was an American film producer and talent manager. He co-founded the Comic Strip comedy club in New York in 1975 and discovered Eddie Murphy there, later managing the comedian for more than a decade.

Wachs produced several of Murphy's films, including The Golden Child (1986), Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), on which he also received a story credit, Eddie Murphy Raw (1987), Coming to America (1988), Harlem Nights (1989) and Another 48 Hrs. (1990). He had previously worked as an entertainment lawyer after graduating from the College of William and Mary and Harvard Law School.

Wachs died in Manhattan on 2 December 2013.
