Biography
Robert Dalva was an American film editor and cinematographer. Born in New York City on 14 April 1942, he studied English literature at Colgate University and filmmaking at Syracuse University and the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where he was part of a group of students later known as 'The Dirty Dozen'.
Dalva edited The Black Stallion (1979), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing. His other editing credits include Jumanji (1995), October Sky (1999), Jurassic Park III (2001), Hidalgo (2004) and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). He also worked as second-unit cinematographer on Star Wars (1977) and directed The Black Stallion Returns (1983). He was a member of the American Cinema Editors.
Dalva died on 27 January 2023 in Marin County, California.
