Biography
Robert J. Doherty is an American television producer, director and former assistant director. He began his career in the early 1980s with second assistant director and additional second assistant director credits on feature films including WarGames (1983), Cheech & Chong's Next Movie (1980), Dreamscape (1984) and Lost in America (1985).
Doherty worked extensively on the series NYPD Blue (1993–2005) as producer, co-executive producer, supervising producer and unit production manager, and directed several episodes. He also served as first assistant director on L.A. Law (1986–1990) and received a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on NYPD Blue.
