Biography
Robert J. Kern (1885–1972) was an American film editor with more than sixty feature film credits. He edited The Thin Man (1934) and two further entries in the series for director W. S. Van Dyke.
Kern collaborated frequently with Clarence Brown, editing thirteen of his films including National Velvet (1944), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Film Editing. He received an Academy Award nomination for David Copperfield (1935). His brother Hal C. Kern was also a film editor and Academy Award winner.
