Biography
Robert Mandan (1932–2018) was an American actor. He was born in Clever, Missouri, and began his career in television serials, playing David Allen in From These Roots (1958–1961) and Sam Reynolds in Search for Tomorrow (1965–1970). He appeared on Broadway in the musical Applause (1970).
Mandan is best known for his role as the philandering businessman Chester Tate in the satirical sitcom Soap (1977–1981). He played Senator Wingwood in the film The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and James Bradford in the series Three's a Crowd (1984–1985). His other television work includes guest appearances in Married... with Children, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Golden Girls and ER.
He was married to Sherry Dixon from 1963 until his death in Los Angeles in 2018.
