Biography
Robert McWade (also credited as Robert McWade Jr.) was an American stage and film actor. Born in Buffalo, New York, he was the third generation of actors in his family to bear the name. He began his professional stage career in 1902 with the Murray Hill Stock Company and appeared in at least 38 Broadway productions between 1903 and 1927.
McWade appeared in 83 films between 1924 and 1938. His screen credits include Cimarron (1931), Grand Hotel (1932), I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932), 42nd Street (1933) as Jones, The Kennel Murder Case (1933) and Ladies They Talk About (1933). He was the older brother of character actor Edward McWade and was married to Minnie Lee; they had two sons. He died of heart disease in Culver City, California, in 1938.
