Biography
Roberto Benabib is a Mexican-American television writer, producer and film director. Born in Mexico City in 1959, he graduated from New York University film school and began his career as an assistant to director Jonathan Demme.
He wrote and directed the 1997 Miramax film Little City. Benabib joined the writing staff of the Showtime series Weeds in 2005 as co-executive producer, later becoming executive producer, and contributed to 14 episodes. He has also written for Ally McBeal (1997) and Kidding (2018), and co-created the HBO series The Brink (2015) with his brother Kim Benabib.
Benabib received a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2009 for Outstanding Comedy Series as an executive producer on Weeds. He adapted the libretto for Baz Luhrmann's Broadway production of La Bohème.
