Biography
Roberto Perpignani is an Italian film editor born on 20 April 1941 in Rome. He began his career in 1962 as assistant editor on Orson Welles's The Trial and received his first editing credit on Bernardo Bertolucci's Before the Revolution (1964).
Perpignani has edited more than one hundred films and television programmes. He is known for his work on Last Tango in Paris (1972), The Night of the Shooting Stars (1982), The Postman (1994), Caesar Must Die (2012) and Rainbow: A Private Affair (2017). He won three David di Donatello Awards for Best Editing, including one for The Postman, and received a Premio Bianchi at the Venice International Film Festival.
He was married to film producer Grazia Volpi until her death in 2020.
