Biography
Robin Vidgeon (born 12 August 1939) is a retired British cinematographer. He began his career in 1956 at Pinewood Studios and spent over twenty-five years as a focus puller, working primarily with cinematographer Douglas Slocombe and camera operator Bernard (Chic) Waterson on films including The Great Gatsby (1974), Rollerball (1975) and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
He transitioned to director of photography in the mid-1980s. His early feature credits as DOP include The Mission (1986) and The Penitent (1986). He is best known for his collaborations with Clive Barker, serving as cinematographer on Hellraiser (1987), Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988) and Nightbreed (1990). Other credits include The Fly II (1989) and Event Horizon (1997).
Vidgeon is an honorary member of the British Society of Cinematographers and served as its acting president from 1994 to 1995. He retired from active filming in 2013 and has since taught cinematography at the London Film Academy and the Met Film School.
