Biography

Rod Rondeaux is a Native American actor and stuntman. A member of the Crow Tribe with Cheyenne descent, he was born in 1958 in Los Angeles and grew up on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana. He began in rodeo as a horse rider, bull rider, steer wrestler and team roper before entering film work.

Rondeaux has worked as a stunt performer, specialising in horse stunts, on numerous Westerns and television productions since the 1990s. His acting credits include early roles in Crazy Horse (1996) and The Missing (2003), followed by Meek's Cutoff (2010) as The Indian, the lead in Mekko (2015) — for which he received Best Actor awards at the American Indian Film Festival and Red Nation Film Festival — and parts in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018), Hostiles (2017) and Woman Walks Ahead (2018). He has also appeared in television series including Into the West (2005), Comanche Moon (2008), Tyrant (2015) and The English (2022).
