Biography
Ronnie Taylor (also credited as Ronald Taylor or Ron Taylor) was a British cinematographer. Born in Hampstead, London, he began his career in the film industry in the 1940s as a clapper boy and later worked extensively as a camera operator on films including The Innocents (1961), The Devils (1971), Tommy (1975) and Star Wars (1977).
Taylor became a director of photography in the 1970s. He collaborated with Richard Attenborough on Gandhi (1982), for which he shared the Academy Award for Best Cinematography with Billy Williams after stepping in mid-production. He also worked with Attenborough on A Chorus Line (1985) and Cry Freedom (1987), and with Dario Argento on Opera (1987). He received BAFTA nominations for Gandhi and Cry Freedom.
