Biography
Ruben Santiago-Hudson is an American actor, playwright and director. Born Ruben Santiago Jr. on 24 November 1956 in Lackawanna, New York, he holds a BA from Binghamton University and an MFA from Wayne State University.
He is known for his Broadway work, including a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for Seven Guitars (1996) and directing the Tony-winning revival of Jitney (2017). He wrote and starred in the autobiographical play Lackawanna Blues, which he adapted for an HBO film. On screen he played Captain Roy Montgomery in the ABC series Castle (2009–2011) and has appeared in films including American Gangster (2007) and Selma (2014).
