Biography
Ryszard Lenczewski is a Polish cinematographer. He graduated from the Cinematography Department of the National Film School in Łódź in 1974 and later obtained a postdoctoral degree and the title of professor. He lectured at the school and served as deputy dean of the Cinematography Department from 2008 to 2014.
Lenczewski has more than thirty feature film credits. He worked as cinematographer on four films directed by Paweł Pawlikowski: Last Resort (2000), My Summer of Love (2005), The Woman in the Fifth (2011) and Ida (2013), sharing duties on the last with Łukasz Żal. Other credits include Intermission (2003) and Margaret (2011).
His work on Ida brought an Academy Award nomination for Best Cinematography, shared with Żal, along with a BAFTA nomination and other awards. He is a member of BAFTA, the European Film Academy and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
