Biography
Sam Hamm is an American screenwriter and comic book writer. He was born on 19 November 1955 in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Hamm wrote the screenplay and story for the 1989 film Batman and received a story credit on Batman Returns (1992). His other film credits include the screenplay for Never Cry Wolf (1983) and the screenplay for Monkeybone (2001). He also wrote episodes for the television series Masters of Horror (2005–2006).
Following his work on the Batman films, DC Comics invited Hamm to write the 1988 story arc Batman: Blind Justice for Detective Comics, which introduced the character Henri Ducard. In 2021 he wrote the limited comic series Batman '89, a continuation of the 1989 film universe, followed by Batman '89: Echoes.
