Biography
Sandy Stern is an American film producer. His first credit was as producer on the 1990 teen film Pump Up the Volume. He later executive produced Velvet Goldmine (1998) and formed the production company Single Cell Pictures with Michael Stipe.
Stern produced Being John Malkovich (1999) with Stipe, Steve Golin and Vincent Landay. The film won the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature in 2000, and the producers won a Producers Guild of America Vision Award. He also produced Saved! (2004) and later credits include Class Rank (2017) and Phil (2019).
Stern was raised in New York City. He studied at New York University and Vassar College before entering filmmaking.
