Biography
Saundra Santiago is an American actress. Born on 13 April 1957 in the Bronx, New York, she is the daughter of a Cuban father and a Puerto Rican mother. She studied psychology at the University of Miami before earning a Master of Fine Arts in theatre from Southern Methodist University.
She is best known for her role as Detective Gina Calabrese in the NBC series Miami Vice (1984–1990). Santiago has also played Carmen Santos in the CBS soap opera Guiding Light and appeared in recurring roles as Jeannie and Joan Cusamano in The Sopranos (1999–2007). Her other television credits include One Life to Live, Law & Order and Person of Interest.
On stage, she has performed on Broadway in A View from the Bridge and Nine, and in other productions including Chronicle of a Death Foretold.
