Biography
Scott Cooper is an American filmmaker and former actor. Born on 20 April 1970 in Abingdon, Virginia, he trained as an actor at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and graduated from Hampden–Sydney College.
He began his career acting in film and television before making his directorial debut with Crazy Heart (2009), which he also wrote. Subsequent films he has directed and often written include Out of the Furnace (2013), Black Mass (2015), Hostiles (2017), Antlers (2021), The Pale Blue Eye (2022), and Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (2025).
