Biography
Scott Sunderland was an English actor. Born in Rock Ferry, Cheshire, he was educated in England and Germany. His first professional stage appearance was in 1909 with the F.R. Benson company at Stratford-upon-Avon.
He worked principally in the theatre until the mid-1940s, including roles in Shakespeare, Shaw and other plays, and later with the Birmingham Repertory Company. His film appearances were as Colonel George Pickering in Pygmalion (1938) and Sir John Colley in Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939).
His life partner was the theatre director Sir Barry Jackson. Sunderland died in Malvern, Worcestershire, in 1952.
