Biography
Sean San José is an American actor, writer, director and producer whose work is rooted in the San Francisco theatre scene. He co-founded the award-winning Campo Santo ensemble and served for fifteen years as Program Director of Performance at Intersection for the Arts. He is currently Artistic Director of Magic Theatre and Creative Executive at Edith Productions, Colman Domingo’s company.
San José has collaborated with Domingo for nearly thirty years, beginning in the early 1990s Bay Area theatre community. Their joint projects include the feature film Sing Sing (2023), in which San José plays Mike Mike. Earlier screen credits include Dream for an Insomniac (1996) as Juice (credited as Sean San Jose Blackman) and Prospect (2004) as Scout (credited as Sean Blackman). He received a Rainin/USA Fellowship in 2023 for his body of work.
