Biography
Selenis Leyva is an American actress. Born on 26 May 1972 in Baracoa, Cuba, she was raised in the Bronx and is of Cuban and Dominican descent. She began her career in Off-Broadway productions, making her professional debut in the 1995 Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre production of Simpson Street.
Leyva had supporting roles on television before her breakthrough as Gloria Mendoza in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black (2013–19). She later starred in the Disney+ series Diary of a Future President (2020–21) and the NBC sitcom Lopez vs Lopez (2022–25). Her film credits include Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Creed III (2023), in which she played Laura Chavez.
