Biography
Seu Jorge, born Jorge Mário da Silva on 8 June 1970 in Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is a Brazilian musician, singer, songwriter and actor. He began performing in samba circles and funk parties in his youth and later appeared in more than twenty stage productions with the Teatro da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro.
He is known for his film roles, including Mané Galinha in City of God (2002), Pelé dos Santos in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004), Beirada in Elite Squad: The Enemy Within (2010), Dondinho in Pelé: Birth of a Legend (2016), Carlos Marighella in Marighella (2021) and a cowboy in Asteroid City (2023). He has also contributed to film soundtracks, notably providing Portuguese-language covers of David Bowie songs for The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
