Biography
Shane Hurlbut is an American cinematographer. Born in Ithaca, New York, he studied film and television at Emerson College after attending Herkimer County Community College and Southern Cayuga High School. He began his career in the late 1980s working on music videos and commercials before moving into features.
His feature debut, the 1998 television film The Rat Pack, earned him an American Society of Cinematographers nomination, making him the youngest nominee at the time. Hurlbut has since worked on numerous films, including Terminator Salvation (2009), Need for Speed (2014), Act of Valor (2012), The Babysitter (2017) and Holidate (2020). He frequently collaborates with directors such as McG and Scott Waugh, and is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers. He founded the Hurlbut Academy, an online platform for filmmakers.
