Biography
Sheila Callaghan is an American playwright and screenwriter. She was born on 24 January 1973 in Queens, New York, and holds a B.A. from the College of New Jersey and an M.F.A. from UCLA.
Callaghan has written for several television series, including episodes of United States of Tara (2009–2011), Hemlock Grove (2013), Shameless (2013–2018), Casual (2015) and Dying for Sex (2025). She has also served as a producer on Shameless, Casual and Dying for Sex. Her stage work includes numerous plays produced across the United States and internationally; she is a founding member of the playwrights' collective 13P and of the feminist advocacy group The Kilroys.
She received a Golden Globe nomination for her work on Casual and a Writers Guild of America nomination for an episode of Shameless. Earlier awards include the Whiting Award for Drama and the Princess Grace Award.
