Biography
Shinji Higuchi (樋口 真嗣) is a Japanese film director, special effects director, screenwriter and storyboard artist. He entered the industry in 1984 as an assistant modeler on The Return of Godzilla and was one of the four founding members of Gainax (originally Daicon Films).
Higuchi contributed as writer, assistant director and storyboard artist to the anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995). He directed special effects for the Gamera trilogy in the 1990s and has since directed live-action films including Attack on Titan (2015), Shin Godzilla (2016) and Shin Ultraman (2022).
