Biography
Shota Sometani is a Japanese actor. Born on 3 September 1992 in Koto, Tokyo, he began his career as a child actor in 2001 and gained his first leading role in the 2009 film Pandora's Box.
He received the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor at the 2011 Venice Film Festival for his performance in Himizu. Sometani is also known for his roles as Izumi Shinichi in the Parasyte films (2014–2015) and for voice work in animated features including Wolf Children (2012), The Boy and the Beast (2015), Belle (2021) and Suzume (2022).
He has been married to actress Rinko Kikuchi since 2014.
