Biography
Siegfried Rauch was a German film and television actor. Born in Landsberg am Lech, he studied drama at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and took private acting lessons. He began his stage career in 1958, with early engagements in Bremen, followed by work in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg.
Rauch appeared in several international productions, including Patton (1970) as Captain Oskar Steiger, Le Mans (1971) as Erich Stahler, The Eagle Has Landed (1976) as Sergeant Brandt, Escape to Athena (1979) and The Big Red One (1980) as Schroeder. In Germany he had leading roles in television series such as Das Traumschiff, playing the captain from 1999 to 2013, and Der Bergdoktor.
He remained active until his death in 2018.
