Biography
Sofya Levitsky-Weitz is a playwright and television and film writer. She holds an MFA in Writing for the Screen & Stage from Northwestern University, where she now serves on the advisory board. Her early career centred on playwriting, with work developed in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago; her play this party sucks appeared on the 2019 Kilroys’ List and is optioned by Mark Gordon Pictures.
On television she has written for Gaslit (2022) and served as story editor and writer on The Dropout (2022) and as writer, story editor and executive story editor on The Bear (2022–2023). She received Writers Guild of America Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series for the first two seasons of The Bear and a nomination for The Dropout. She is also a writer and producer on the 2025 series The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox. Levitsky-Weitz is an alum of EST/Youngblood, a former Jerome Fellow and Core Writer at the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis, and a MacDowell Fellow.
