Biography
Søren Spanning (1951–2020) was a Danish actor. He graduated from the Aarhus Theatre school in 1976 and remained with the theatre until 1980. From 1980 to 1987 he was a member of the Royal Danish Theatre, appearing in numerous stage productions including Hamlet, King Lear and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Spanning had recurring television roles in series such as TAXA, The Killing (2007) as Kornerup and Borgen (2010–2013) as Lars Hesselboe across three seasons. Film credits include Münter in A Royal Affair (2012) and Henrik Hvid in The Shooter (2013). He provided the Danish voice of Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter films. In 1995 he was appointed Knight of the Dannebrog. He was married to actress Karen-Lise Mynster.
