Biography
Stanley Clements (born Stanislaw Klimowicz) was an American actor and comedian. He was born on 16 July 1926 in Long Island, New York, and began performing in vaudeville and on the Major Bowes Amateur Hour before signing with 20th Century Fox in 1941. His early film roles included an appearance as Morton Rodakiewicz in The More the Merrier (1943).
Clements appeared in the East Side Kids series as "Stash" and later replaced Leo Gorcey as group leader Stanislaus "Duke" Coveleskie in the final seven Bowery Boys comedies from 1956. He is also noted for roles in Going My Way (1944) and Salty O'Rourke (1945). His career was interrupted by military service during the Second World War; he continued in supporting parts in film and television until his death on 16 October 1981 in Pasadena, California.
