Biography
Stephen Lee Davis (1955–2017) was an American assistant director and director. Born in Maryville, Tennessee, he died in New York City. He worked extensively as a first or second assistant director on numerous films and television series.
Davis is best known for his long association with the comedy series 30 Rock (2006–2013), on which he served as first assistant director for 61 episodes and directed three episodes between 2010 and 2012. He received a Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Comedy Series for his work on the show. His other assistant director credits include the films Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), The Hunger Games (2012) and Collateral Beauty (2016), as well as series such as Sex and the City and Gotham.
