Biography
Steve Abbott is a British film producer. Born on 28 July 1954 in Bradford, West Yorkshire, he was educated at the University of Cambridge. He began working with the Monty Python troupe in 1979 while at Handmade Films, initially as an accountant, and became their manager the same year alongside business partner Anne James.
In 1985 Abbott co-founded Prominent Features and Prominent Television with John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin. He produced A Fish Called Wanda (1988), American Friends (1991), Blame It on the Bellboy (1992), Brassed Off (1996) and Fierce Creatures (1997). He has also served as executive producer on several Michael Palin travel series for television, including work spanning over 40 years.
Films he has produced have received an Oscar, a César and several BAFTA awards. He was nominated for a BAFTA Award.
