Biography
Steve Coombes was a British screenwriter. Born in Hull, East Yorkshire, he wrote episodes of the television series Lovejoy (1986) and Vera (2011). He created the BBC drama Outlaws (2004), which received a Bafta nomination.
Coombes graduated with a first-class degree in English and philosophy from the University of York and undertook postgraduate study at Warwick University. His other credits include the ITV series Sold (2007), the feature film What Rats Won't Do (1998) and the radio play Mr Sex (2005), which won the Richard Imison Award. He died in February 2021.
